About City StepsStatistics

GEAR Center provides a resident-friendly environment complete with instructional area, computers, printers and a phone line. It is set up for group and individual work, and is open to all AIRS and CITY STEPS residents. In its first year of operation, GEAR served 76 residents from the various programs of AIRS and CITY STEPS.

The issues surrounding HIV and Workforce Development are complex, especially for those who are balancing critical medical benefits tied to SSI. GEAR staff is working with the National Working Positive Coalition on policy and program issues surrounding work barriers, access to Vocational Rehabilitation Services and difficulties dealing with intermittent bouts of illness as it relates to being successfully employed.
