Overview

AIRS has developed a range of programming under the CITY STEPS banner that addresses the specific problems of transition-aged homeless youth ages 14-24. Interventions at such a critical time in life have the capacity to be transforming, and in so doing, prevent future episodes of homelessness or exposure to trauma. For additional information, or to make a referral, please call 410-528-0267.

STOMP - POPULAR OPINION LEADER
S.T.O.M.P. is a peer-led prevention and education initiative focusing on safe sex practices within the homeless youth community. Youth from the target population are provided training on the facts of HIV/AIDS as well as simple prevention techniques, and are instructed on how to use their social networks to get the word out. We will also track referrals to care and community resources.

CITY STEPS RESOURCE CENTER
At the Resource Center we provide case management, emergency services, life skills education and referrals to housing for homeless and unstably housed youth, ages 14-24. Services are by appointment only. All referrals for housing are also handled through the Center.

CARRIAGE HOUSE TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM
Carriage House provides supportive case management, independent living skills training, educational and job coaching to support job skills and income growth for homeless youth. Residential services are available for single young men and women, age 18-21, with a history of homelessness and a readiness to take advantage of support services for up to 18 months.
YOUTH SPACE BALTIMORE
Youth Space Baltimore is our supportive Permanent Housing Program, housing single young adults and young families. Individual apartments scattered throughout the City, are available to youth with a history of homelessness and with a qualifying disability. Residents receive intense case management and independent living skills training, and are assisted to obtaining and maintain employment.

GERALDINE YOUNG CENTER
This transitional housing program for women ages 18-24, addresses the multiple challenges that young mothers face. Through intensive case management, these young women are provided the support and the resources to be independent and self-sufficient, with the skills to raise their children in a safe and loving environment. The facility is integrated into an active neighborhood, and is adjacent to a neighborhood YMCA recreational facility.

RESTORATION GARDENS (Opening 2010)
Restoration Gardens, a 43-unit housing complex, is a permanent supportive housing project located in the Southern Park Heights. The program will be a service-rich facility for single young men and women, age 18-24, with a history of homelessness.
